Dr.Jart Dermaclear Trans-foam Clay

Best masks I’ve tried in a while. These from Korean brand Dr.Jart are one-of-a-kind. The texture is a cross between a bubbling oxygen mask, clay mask, and a foamy cleanser. It looks like a regular clay mask when you squeeze it out of the tube. It starts to bubble and  form a thick, foamy shaving cream-like layer when applied on the skin. And when you rinse it off after the clay mask dries, it cleanses the skin like a foamy mask. After I used the mask, my skin was super tight, glowy and clean.  But like most clay masks, it left my skin dry. So be sure to use a hydrating mask or thick oil or cream to replenish the moisture afterwards.  There are three formulas: Calming White (cheek areas); Moisturizing Pink (cheek areas); and Refreshing Green (for the oily t-zone and chin). All are made with French clay that cleanses the skin deeply. Perfect for multi-masking ✌🏻️

Clarins White Plus Tri-intensive Brightening Serum

I love the sun (relatively).  I like to laze by the pool (on some days, but always under a huge umbrella), run in the outdoors (when there are pumping tracks on Spotify), feel the sun’s heat on my skin (after an entire day in a freezing office). But I want to stay as fair and spotless as possible.  If you are a Beauty Gazette reader, you’ll know what I mean.  I don’t mind my arms and legs looking a little tanned, but I can’t let my face go one shade darker without feeling guilty.  Perhaps because I think the skin on my face is alot more sensitive to UV rays and more prone to wrinkles and spots. So I’m always slathering on copious amounts of sunscreen on it, as well as skin-brightening products.    Clarins’ new White Plus spin-off is a recent discovery. I am loving its lightweight texture and barely-there floral scent (which surprisingly, does not irritate my skin which is intolerant to scented skincare).  If you have youthful, supple skin, this formula which feels like …

Cle de Peau Beaute La Creme

The ultimate luxury.   Every high-end beauty brand has its star creme de la creme.  La Mer’s pride is the Creme de La Mer; and La Prairie has its Skin Caviar Luxe Cream. For Cle de Peau, its jewel is the anti-ageing La Creme. The pink jar (pictured above) is a limited edition launched in 2012 to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary. The updated La Creme, which hits stores in March, comes in a jar carved like a faceted diamond.       So how is the new formula different?  The cream is as rich and nourishing, but it literally melts on warm skin and sinks  right into it.  There is no waxiness like most rich creams, and the after-feel is a satiny finish. Skin looks dewy and feels more supple. No need to warm the product between warm hands; just apply and press into skin. A little bit – a pea-sized amount – goes a long way.  Perfect for wintry conditions, as well as to veil skin in an air-conditioned room at night.   Made …

A classic beauty formula

How many beauty potions out there are made with a formula concocted more than a hundred years ago?  Of course, the others that come to mind is the heavy Hazeline Snow cream (late 1800s) and Nivea Creme (early 1900s). But Shiseido’s Revitalizing Essence – launched in 1897 as the first pharmaceutical-based lotion – is unique.  Scented with “rain-washed peonies”, this lightweight watery lotion is made to soften and prepare skin for the deeper absorption of other skincare. At the same time, it moisturises skin lightly. Fast forward to 2016, watery skincare essences and lotions are a must-have in the beauty routines of Asian women. Shiseido was founded as a Western-style pharmacy in 1872. And today it is still on point with its Eudermine lotion, which continues to be part of Shiseido’s product line-up.  Of course, the original formula has been tweaked to better suit the skin of modern women. In my opinion, the sleek and modern red glass bottle (with the red glass stopper, and the unique lettering) is the epitome of chic. The faceted …

Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-oxidant Eye Serum

Aesop skincare from Australia is a hands-down fave of my mine. I recently re-stocked on the Fabulous Face Oil. And with it, I tried the Parsley Seed Antioxidant Eye Serum. The serum nourishes and hydrates the eye area even though it is neither a gel or a cream. The lightweight and watery texture is ideal for layering under concealer; as oily eye creams often cause my eye makeup to run. This formula helps to firm and reduce the appearance of fine lines around my eyes as well.
