Clarins Double Serum – 8th Generation

Clarins’ biggest launch in 2017 – and possibly the last couple of years – is the 8th generation of its Double Serum. The all-in-one anti-ageing serum (or as Marie-Hélène Lair the brand’s scientific communication director calls it, a “Swiss-army knife”); is made to improve the skin’s regeneration, hydration, nutrition, oxygenation, and protection. As its name suggests, the Double Serum has a unique dual-phase formulation: two-thirds hydric (water), and one-third lipidic (oil). The pump bottle contains two different vials for one important reason: when the hydric and lipidic solutions are kept separate until the point of application, the efficacy of the potent ingredients are preserved. The first-generation Double Serum Multi-Regenerant Concentre was bottled in 1985 in exactly the same way – the formula literally came in a set of two dropper bottles, with the contents to be mixed upon application. The latest Double Serum has been formulated based on the findings from the School of Medical Studies in Namur, Belgium, which has discovered the link between skin-ageing and cell receptors that regulate cell activity for skin vitality, …

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil

A good melt-on-your-lips pout treatment product is a must-have in any beauty pouch.  And if nothing in the market seems to treat your flakey pout, all you have to do is this: – Drink enough water (cracked and dry lips are a sign of dehydration) – Exfoliate dead skin cells with a cotton wash cloth – Get your hands on the Clarins Instant Light Lip Oil.  Don’t let the idea of coating your lips in oil put you off. The Clarins Lip Oil is more like a gloss, minus the thick stickiness but with all the shine. Plus, this lightweight formula contains moisturising jojoba and hazel seed oils that is easily absorbed to soften lips. The finger-tip shaped applicator makes use super easy too. The Lip Oil is now available in more colours, from bright pink tints to the beautifully sparkly Honey Glam. Wear the Lip Oil alone or on top of lipstick for extra shine and moisture. Clarins Body Fit Anti-Cellulite Contouring Expert, and SPF 20 Brightening Body Veil

The first products that masseur Jacques Courtin-Clarins sold out of his salon in 1954, were body treatment oils. Almost six decades on, Clarins is still known for its body treatment products that promise to smoothen skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite. The new Body Fit Anti-Cellulite Contouring Expert is a lightweight gel moisturiser that leaves the skin with a velvety finish, and lightly perfumed (we are loving the refreshing floral scent). Think of it as invisible Spanx. After application, my skin immediately looked smoother, and feel just that tad firmer and tighter. Its star ingredient is a quince leaf extract that acts on the adipose fat cells to smoothen the dimpling on skin caused by cellulite. Eight plant extracts are also added to lift, and firm the skin. For sure, applying this gel alone will not give you a firmer and tighter cellulite-free silhouette. Use the Body Fit with regular exercise (be it circuit training at the gym or the #BBG at home), and a sensible diet (which includes the occasional burrata rucola pizza and …

You’re familiar with Clarins’ skincare products; and now it is time to get acquainted with its makeup. Come March 31, the complete Clarins makeup collection will be available at counters in Singapore. Launched in 1991, the makeup products are infused with skincare. Eric Antoniotti, Clarins International Artistic and Training Director, shares his favourites and tips with The Beauty Gazette. “Makeup that cares” “You get an instant makeup effect; the perfect complexion, lips, and amazing lashes. And at the same time, you get long-term skincare benefits thanks to the plant extracts in the formulas,” says Antoniotti. For example, the Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base is part skincare, part make-up base. It adds a glow to the skin so it …

Clarins White Plus Pure Translucency

Clarins is one of those rare European brands that already had its finger on the pulse of skin-brightening trends from way back when; 20 years to be exact. It started in 1996 with the Whitening Essence, and now into its seventh variation for 2017, the White Plus Pure Translucency. The star of the latest range is the antioxidant-rich acerola fruit, which resembles a cherry. While doing extensive research on how melanin production takes place in the skin (which leads to dark spots), Clarins scientists also discovered the potent benefits of the acerola. The fruit contains polyphenols, antioxidants that help to protect the plants from damaging UV rays. Apparently, the younger the fruit, the more polyphenols it contains; therefore Clarins harvests the early fruits and freezes them to get the best extracts. These extracts proved to reduce melanin production by almost 25 per cent during in vitro tests. There are six new formulas in Clarins’ White Plus Pure Translucency collection. The Brightening Creamy Mousse Cleanser is lovely. Lightly scented with an uplifting floral fragrance, the cleanser …

Clarins Plant Gold Collection

Skincare oils are the ultimate moisturisers. If they are pure enough and well-formulated, the oils sink right into the skin to keep it supple, protected, and resilient. There will be no greasy after feel and stickiness. The first ones I’ve ever tried are from Clarins, and I still love them. The Tonic Body Treatment Oil is often used during Clarins’ body treatments. It smells calming, yet energising at the same time. Inside: the essential oils of rosemary, geranium, and mint blended with hazelnut oil.  The Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil is a lifesaver when my skin is dehydrated or feeling irritated. I either wear it alone or blend it into a cream for that extra nourishment. I also like to add a drop to my liquid foundation for a glow. Just one drop of this relatively thick oil, or a maximum of two, is enough for your entire face. On a base of hazelnut oil, the essential oils of rosewood and patchouli, as well as blue orchid extract are added. The smell of this luxurious oil always makes …

Clarins Booster

Just like how you would pop vitamin pills – or perhaps even take a vitamin shot in the arm – to get a quick charge so you can go about slaying the day; Clarins’ new Booster drops are made to give your skin that extra TLC even when you are on-the-go. Just pick the right one for your skin condition and lifestyle, add a few drops into the moisturiser or foundation, blend in your palms and apply. I really like how the watery serums are super lightweight and almost odourless. So it blends right into my regular skincare creams and foundation without changing its consistency. And yet, I get the extra skincare benefits which I feel almost immediately. After using it for the past week, my skin looks clearer and perkier; and more awake in the mornings. Because switching up your skincare routine is troublesome, just add a few drops to the ritual for maximum benefits. The Energy Booster ($65) is customised for those who are often up late, have a hectic lifestyle, jet-lagged, or …

Your nightly beauty ritual should be more than just a chore or a mindless routine. When you have the time to do it right, the nighttime routine is a perfect way to unwind after a long day. That is why the skincare products in your nightly skincare ritual should be more than just functional. Like this Clarins Extra-Firming Mask which has a cocooning gel-cream texture, as well as a soothing and calming scent. It contains Organic Green Banana and Lemon Thyme to help boost skin firmness and elasticity, and an ingredient called Palmitoyl Glycine which is said to visibly reduce stress lines and wrinkles. In the blend, there acerola seed extract is also added to lend skin radiance, while jojoba, mimosa and sunflower wax nourishes and soothes the skin. The mask also comes with instructions on how to melt the tension away from your face with its “Pressure Point Method”: 1. Gently but quickly tap fingertips all over face to stimulate the skin for absorption of the skincare 2. Place a blob of mask between …
