Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate + Vit C and Hyaluronic Acid

Kiehl’s latest serum is a potent blend of Vitamin C (an eyebrow-raising 12.5 per cent) and hyaluronic acid. Formulated to smoothen the appearance of lines and pores; the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate is indeed powerful enough to leave a warm and tingly sensation on the skin upon application. The slight stinging feeling did not last more than 10 seconds on my normal-combination skin though. Although it might further irritate those with intolerant skin. After using it three days and nights in a row, I’ve noticed a perceptible improvement to my skkn texture. Somehow, my skin also looks less oily throughout the day. This serum leaves behind a silky-smooth matte finish, and is lightweight enough to be layered between a lotion, and moisturiser, sunscreen, foundation.

Casio Exilim TR-M11 Review

A strong segment in Casio’s stable of offerings is its range of TR selfie cameras that automatically turns portraits picture-perfect. In seconds, the camera automatically adds a dewy translucence and healthy flush to the selfie, so one’s posts on social media will always be flawless and approved by adoring followers. The latest Casio launch is the TR-M11, a camera that looks just like the cushion compact foundation, and fits in the palm of the hand. It also has an 8-LED ring light around the lens to smoothe away shadows on the face. Here’s an excerpt from our review for The Straits Times: “Taking a selfie with this gadget is a no-brainer. Just flip it open, adjust the position of your face within the square digital screen (perfect for the square proportions of Instagram posts) and tap the screen or press the ergonomic button at the 1 o’clock position of the camera. The best selfies are impromptu and snapped quickly, and this non-fiddly device is perfect for such moments. Portraits can also be cropped in circles …

Her hair and the red carpet: Lupita Nyong’O makes a political statement

Last Saturday, Kenyan-Mexican actress literally stormed the red carpet at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi with her stunning emerald and sequinned slashed-to-the-thigh Halpern dress; and mini afro. That mini afro, styled in Nyong O’s natural hair texture, is a refreshing change from the usual (artificially) sleek and shiny locks of black women in the entertainmant spotlight. (Think Naomi Campbell, Nicki Minaj, Tyra Banks, Kerry Washington.) Clearly, Nyong O’s preferred hairstyle is a political statement (which applies to everything else in Trump’s America these days), and a nod to her belief in propogating diverse definitions of beauty. She had made her stand clear in an Instagram post in November, when she flamed Grazia UK for putting her on the cover but cropping out the kinky frizzy curls. In her post, she wrote: “As I have made clear so often in the past with every fiber of my being, I embrace my natural heritage and despite having grown up thinking light skin, and straight, silky hair were the standards of beauty, I now …

The pigments are fine, smooth, rich, and so easy to blend for a beautiful melding of shades for the perfect soft smokey eye. A few dabs with the brush will get you alot of colour on the lids. Color Me Pro Edition Applicator and Underglow Hydrator

Blending foundation/ base/ sunscreen – often slowly, and with skill – is the first step to flawless-looking makeup. But getting that perfect finish can be tricky, especially on busy mornings. Make-up extraordinaire and beauty brand expert Eric Jimenez (of Urban Decay, Benefit, and La Mer fame) is set to change all that with his cosmetics label Color Me, where the star product is a vibrating, tapping makeup applicator for easy blending of liquids, powders, and creams. Jimenez founded the brand in 2014, launching it with his battery-operated, made-in-Korea sonic-pulsating beauty device. Operating at 15,000 pulses per minute, the gadget comes with an ergonomic thumb-sized tear-shaped flocked sponge that gives skin flawless coverage for up to eight hours, for results that are quick and superior to manual blending. The device works best on clean, moisturised skin. With care, each refillable sponge lasts up to 30 days of use. To complement the Color Me Applicator, Jimenez has also recently rolled out a range of Underglow Hydrator makeup bases. Available in four shades, they keep skin supple, glowing, …

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX, Multi Cushion Highlighter, and Powder for Cushion launching 2018

Luxury Korean beauty brand Sulwhasoo has upped the ante on its cushion offerings. Come January 2018, it will be launching the second-generation of its bestselling Perfecting Cushion EX that first debuted in 2013. Infused with the subtle fragrance of ginseng (its extracts are a key skincare ingredient), the formula also moisturises with hyaluronic acid-boosting beta glucan and protects with antioxidants. The new Perfecting Cushion EX boasts quick and even fuss-free coverage to give you a more flawless-looking complexion. Each pat of the thin flocked sponge dispenses just the right amount of product on the skin, so you spend less time blending it out. Tip: patting the sponge on skin; instead of gliding it on the skin and pulling it – gives you more coverage and less wrinkles. Coverage is medium to high with a dewy radiance, and long-lasting. The new cushion will also be available in four additional lighter and deeper shades (ivory beige no.17; honey pink no.31, sand beige no.27, and amber beige no.37), bringing the total number to 10.  Both no.37 and no.31 are …
