TBG Interview: Sabrina Tan, founder, Skin Inc

In September, Skin Inc launched its new concept store at Scotts Square in Singapore to cater to women who need flash facials for their jam-packed days, and a relaxing pampering session on their days-off. The store also carries a full range of the brand’s products, from its signature serums to the best-selling masks, and nifty beauty devices. Skin Inc is currently available in 100 cities in Asia, Europe and USA (including Sephora) and online retail channels (Sephora, BeautyBay, Zalora). Next year, the Chinese market is on its cards. Skin Inc’s founder Sabrina Tan, shares why the new concept store is absolutely necessary for the brand’s expansion, and other insights on the brand; with The Beauty Gazette.   Why did you decide to open the new Facial In A Flash Skin Bar? We live in a fast-paced era, where we’re all busy, have little time for almost everything; and when it comes to taking care of ourselves, we literally have no time. But, we want it all. So, I decided to solve this issue that many face with a …

Skin Inc’s new serums

These coloured dropper bottles, each filled with little pastel-coloured globules suspended in a clear liquid. Slowly but surely, these bottles – that come in technicolor shades – are becoming iconic and making waves in the international market. What Skin Inc offers is something I have not seen in any other beauty label: skincare that is simple, effective, and customised to one’s skin condition. There are 10 serums to choose from, and each contains one main active ingredient that addresses a specific skin concern. The active ingredient is encapsulated in those pastel-coloured bubbles so it is kept fresh, and burst upon application. The clear liquid is made of water and skin-hydrating glycerin. Because the active ingredients are encapsulated, customisation is simple and can even be done at home. It is all a matter of mixing up to three of the individual serums that suit your skin concerns into one bottle. Skin Inc Pure Serum Mist

A good mist spray is always handy. Why? 1. Use it like a skin softener. Spray it all over face to soak skin before applying serum and moisturiser for better penetration of active ingredients. It’s quicker than using an essence soaked in a cotton pad. 2. Add dewiness to your make-up finish. Spritz on skin after makeup is done to get rid of that powdery finish, and add a little glow. Or dampen sponge with it to blend foundation seamlessly into skin. 3. Hydrate skin on a hot day.  Or in an air-conditioned office. I like to keep one on my desk to keep skin supple. 4. Refresh makeup at mid-day. Nothing I hate more than to touch-up a greasy face at mid-day.  Spritz mist over greasy face, press tissue onto face to lift grease and surface dirt. This refreshes the skin too. Re-apply makeup. Your foundation would sit better than if you just packed on more without giving the skin a quick spray to perk it up. Skin Inc’s new Pure Serum Mist contains …

Skin Inc Optimizer Voyage Tri-Light

Hand-held beauty gadgets are one of the best inventions around for beauty junkies.  Facial sessions get increasingly rare as one’s working hours become longer, or when  work-travel is a monthly affair.    A handy beauty gizmo makes up for all the missed sessions with the facialist, late nights and stressed days. The plethora of gadgets out there include the supersonic vibrating brushes for deep-cleansing; those with mild infra-red energy to lift skin; and rollers with micro-currents to firm skin while reducing water retention. Skin Inc’s Optimizer Voyage Tri-light is a multi-purpose tool. It emits three types of therapeutic light to heal skin (inspired by NASA technology to heal astronaut’s broken skin in space), as well as low frequency therapy stimulation to boost the penetration of skincare, and sculpt the face.  Red LED repairs and firms; blue LED calms and clarifies; yellow LED adds a glow.  To use: Apply a watery serum, such as any of Skin Inc’s encapsulated Skin Supplement serums.     Then apply a thick layer of gel mask (like my fave Skin …
