Holiday pampering: Skin Inc Optimizer Voyage Tri-Light

Clearer and brighter skin is always a good start to party season. Skin Inc’s Optimizer Voyage is one of those fancy skincare gadgets that can actually inject an instant glow and tighten skin immediately. The latest version of this device – the shape and size of a regular automated cleansing brush – delivers bursts of LED light in five shades to boost skin healing. (Read about the benefits of LED light here.) Red repairs, blue soothes, yellow adds a glow. A combination of red and yellow (=orange) helps repair skin; while red and blue (=purple) tightens skin. Low-frequency waves emitted by the device also help to sculpt the face. For best results, use with the brand’s exfoliating Pure Revival Peel, customised Encapsulated Serums and nourishing and cool Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask. We are loving this device and complementary products; a sure-fire way to instantly rejuvenate skin at home.

Skin Inc Pure Trinity Serum-Infused Cleansing H2Oil

Skin Inc’s offerings are all about multi-taskers for the busy woman on-the-go. Its latest product is the cleansing water/ oil with a shot of skincare serum. So you can get rid of stubborn makeup while plumping skin with sakura leaf, artichoke leaf, and saxifraga sarmentosa extracts. The oil removes long-wearing makeup, and the cleansing water gets rid of impurities. Massage onto dry skin, and rinse with water. It does not have a greasy afterfeel like most cleansing oils; while leaving the skin clean, and feeling fresh and supple.

Skin Inc Oxy-Recharge Bubble Mask

If you only have an extra minute to amp up your skincare routine, give Skin Inc’s new Oxy-Recharge Bubble Mask (S$76) a shot. This product is a combination of the oxygen bubble mask (typically, a gel formula that you slather onto skin and it bubbles up), and a peeling mask. Skin Inc’s formula contains an Activated Carbon Perfluoro that supposedly releases oxygen into the skin; as well as antioxidants from Japanese yuzu, rosemary, green tea, and soothing licorice, chamomile and aloe. After the formula bubbles on skin for 20 to 30 seconds, rub it on skin to remove dead surface skin cells. Rinse. The entire process will not take more than a minute, but you’ll have fresher-looking and smoother skin. Skincare will be better absorbed, and make-up can be applied more smoothly. Use this mask (which smells delightfully of yuzu) a maximum of three times a week; and before your skincare and make-up routines for best results. Watch this clip to see how it works.

Skin Inc Serum-Infused Night Oil

To complement its serums and masks, Skin Inc has launched its own dual water-and-oil formula. To lock moisture into the skin and protect it, the Serum-Infused Night Oil (S$98) contains lavender essential oil, Japanese yuzu seed oil, olive oil, as well as Vitamins A, B12, C, E and amino acids. The oil is relatively thick and viscous; but with the hydrophilic serum, it smoothes nicely into the skin. Best used at night, cooler climes, or for those with drier skin. You could even mix it into your liquid foundation for extra hydration and glow. The best part about this face oil is how well it blends with the brand’s best-selling Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask to become a thicker gel-emulsion that drenches the skin in moisture.  Watch:

Skin Inc Facial In A Flash Mask Series

Keeping true to its customised, made-to-measure skincare formulas, Skin Inc has launched a multi-masking series it claims to be a world first. The concept is simple but clever: three kinds of hydrogel masks themed on precious metals are split into half. So you get to mix and match the upper and lower halves based on how your skin feels. Because maybe your eye and cheek areas need extra hydration, while the areas around your mouth and jawline need lifting. Some brands have already produced masks that are split in half for a better fit, but none offer different versions of the halves for a customised masking experience. Skin Inc offers its masks in Rose Gold, Platinum, Black Gold. Rose Gold: For anti-aging and lifting, with Vitamin A, rose extract, gold, centella asiatica, peony root extract. Platinum: For brightening, infused with Vitamin B3, platinum and floral extracts (matricaria, Japanese cherry flower, lotus, lily). Black Gold: To soothe and purify, containing Vitamin C, charcoal, gold, wild yam root, peony root, willow bark, matricaria flower extract, oregano, soybean …

TBG Interview: Francois Arpels, co-founder, Brands & Beyond

The Singapore-based skincare label which is set on global domination, Skin Inc, has a new member on its advisory board: Francois Arpels. Of Van Cleef & Arpels fame (his family used to own the luxury business, and he started his career there), he now runs a private-equity fund focused on investments in lifestyle and luxury brands. The luxury retail mogul shares his industry insights with The Beauty Gazette.   What are you currently focusing your energies on?  I moved to New Delhi 18 months ago, following more than a decade of close dealings with India, to set up Brands & Beyond (formerly IndEU Capital). It is a private equity fund focused on investing in independent and non-ethnic made-in-India lifestyle and luxury brands that my partners and I plan on rolling out of India. Our business model is closer to that of a strategic operator; we plan on actively contributing value in the strategy of our portfolio companies than that of a typical financial operator.   How do you intend to contribute to Skin Inc’s advisory board?  I’ve …

Skin Inc Optimiser Voyage Blue

The brand’s signature beauty device, the Optimise Voyage now comes in a Blue LED Light version to calm and soothe skin. If you have no idea why a light-emitting gadget can do wonders for your skin, here’s why. The Optimise Voyage offers a home beauty treatment based on chromotherapy, the use of the healing properties of colours to heal the body. LEDs – Light-Emitting Diodes – like the ones in your regular lamp at home, are known for being sources of light that can penetrate deep into the skin. With the right wavelength and colour, the skin can be treated accordingly. The Optimiser Voyage Blue Light taps on blue LED with a wavelength of 460 nano-metres to reach deep into the epidermis. Blue light has been clinically proven to get rid of bacteria that causes acne. Apparently, it also soothes skin and the oil glands, so sebum production is reduced. If you often have breakouts, consider adding this device to your beauty routine. This device also emits low frequency wavelengths which boosts the skin’s absorption …

Skin Inc Pure Recovery Dew

Hands-down, this new hydrating formula is the most lightweight one that I’ve come across. Described as a “gel-to-dew” moisturiser, it is dispensed from the pump as a translucent white gel. But when you spread the dollop onto the skin, it turns into droplets of water. So you’ll feel like you’ve just applied an essence on your skin. Or splashed some water on your face, except that it does not dry out your skin. Emollients are added to keep the skin hydrated for longer. This Skin Inc Pure Recovery Dew ($72) concotion contains Japanese onsen water from the famous Izuma Yumura hot spring that is rich in minerals and soothes; hyaluronic acid to keep skin moisturised; and the antioxidant French pine bark. I like the fact that this formula is easy to layer between my extensive day skincare routine: essence, <Recovery Dew>, serum, cream moisturiser, sunscreen, primer, foundation. Because its texture is watery when applied onto the skin, this moisturiser also blends perfectly with the rest of Skin Inc’s water-based serums. So you can continue to customise …
