Sulwhasoo Beauty From Your Culture 2020

As one of the most premium South Korean beauty brands, Sulwhasoo prides itself on being a patron of culture and art.

This year, it pledges a portion of proceeds from the limited edition bottles of its signature First Care Activating Serum to support global cultural heritage.

Each limited edition set comes with a plain white porcelain bottle and stickers designed by South Korean artist Saki.

In Singapore, Sulwhasoo will pledge $10,000 to the Asian Civilisation Museum for the conservation of Asian heritage.

Sulwhasoo’s First Christmas Advent Calendar

As a clear sign of Sulwhasoo’s readiness to take on the international market with its commercial festivities, it has launched its first ever advent calendar.

Traditionally, religious advent calendars are used to count down the days to Christmas, with little gifts and puzzles behind each “door”.

Sulwhasoo’s version is made up of little pastel paper boxes filled with almost its entire range of skincare items. So if you’ve never tried the brand’s formulas before; or are looking for travel-sized items for your post-gym skincare routine, this advent calendar is a good purchase.

Out of the 24 boxes in the set, four items are a sizeable 30ml and above:

  • Hydro-Aid Moisturising Soothing Mist (30ml)
  • Clarifying Mask EX (50ml)
  • Overnight Vitalizing Mask EX (50ml)
  • Radiance Energy Mask (30ml)

There are also four 25g bars of herbal soaps

  • Pine Tree
  • Plum Blossom
  • Apricot
  • Red Ginseng

A surprise ginseng-scented candle is also thrown into the mix.

The rest of the items range between 3.5ml and 15ml.

This is also a fun set to get for Christmas parties; just let guests pick out the boxes as door gifts.

Sulwhasoo Beauty From Your Culture set

Korean luxury label Sulwhasoo has always been big on preserving culture, a refined way of life that is infused into the brand.

With its latest limited edition set comprising of the First Care Activating Serum, a pouch and travel-sized skincare essentials; S$20 will be donated to the Asian Civilisations Museum.

Sulwhasoo has pledged a minimum of S$10,000 to the museum.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum

Lightweight, anti-ageing, gel-textured, ginseng.

You won’t usually see these few words in the same sentence to describe a serum.

But Sulwhasoo’s new Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum is exactly it.

This anti-ageing formula is surprisingly light with a cushion-y gel texture, making it suitable for even younger skin (mid-20s onwards), and for use in the summer or humid climates.

The ginseng scent isn’t overpowering like it can be with most formulas containing panax ginseng too.

This serum promises to firm, smoothen and add radiance.

I find that it keeps skin especially supple, so that the application of foundation is smoother.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum Mist

A good facial mist is always useful.

  • As the first step of the skincare routine to soften skin
  • As the finishing step for makeup, to add glow to the skin
  • Over makeup at the middle of the day to hydrate skin.
  • On the plane to refresh tired skin

Sulwhasoo’s new First Care Activating Serum Mist is a spin-off from its iconic Activating Serum.

The mist has an oil-and-essence water formula that boosts absorption.

It contains the brand’s signature Jaum Balancing Complex that promises to add vitality, firmness, and clarity to the skin.

Ingredients include jojoba seed oil, olive, honey and walnut extracts.

Sulwhasoo Peach Blossom Spring Utopia Limited Edition

Luxury South Korean beauty brand Sulwhasoo’s latest limited edition range is adorned with plump peaches and spring flowers illustrated in a classical style.

Symbolising longevity and vitality, the gold-accented designs are available on the First Care Activating Serum EX, Perfecting Cushions, Lip Serum Stick (which look brightly coloured but are actually very moisturising balms that give lips a hint of pink/coral).

Also look out for the blush/highlight palette which comes with pretty embossed florals.

The Peach Blossom Spring Utopia is a good buy for makeup collectors, or those who’d like to add some old-world Eastern glamour to their vanity.

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX, Multi Cushion Highlighter, and Powder for Cushion launching 2018

Luxury Korean beauty brand Sulwhasoo has upped the ante on its cushion offerings.

Come January 2018, it will be launching the second-generation of its bestselling Perfecting Cushion EX that first debuted in 2013. Infused with the subtle fragrance of ginseng (its extracts are a key skincare ingredient), the formula also moisturises with hyaluronic acid-boosting beta glucan and protects with antioxidants.

The new Perfecting Cushion EX boasts quick and even fuss-free coverage to give you a more flawless-looking complexion. Each pat of the thin flocked sponge dispenses just the right amount of product on the skin, so you spend less time blending it out.

Tip: patting the sponge on skin; instead of gliding it on the skin and pulling it – gives you more coverage and less wrinkles.

Coverage is medium to high with a dewy radiance, and long-lasting.

The new cushion will also be available in four additional lighter and deeper shades (ivory beige no.17; honey pink no.31, sand beige no.27, and amber beige no.37), bringing the total number to 10.  Both no.37 and no.31 are great for contouring fairer faces too.

If you have a yellow undertone, correct it with either no.11, 15, 21, 25, or 31; for those with a red undertone, pick either no.17, 23, 27, 33 or 37.

The packaging of the product is also slimmer and lighter so it can fit into a smaller clutch.

To complement this launch in January 2018, Sulwhasoo will also be rolling out the new Multi Cushion Highlighter.

Use it to highlight features (brow bone, nose bridge, cupid’s lip, cheek bones, and even a thin line just under the eyes to look younger); or apply it all over as a peachy-pearlescent makeup base for extra glow. You can also use it to tone down a too-bright blush.

While the new Powder For Cushion, a compact finishing powder, sets make-up without mattifying it too much so you still get that fresh-faced look.

For Your Skin and Nature: Sulwhasoo Beauty from Your Culture Limited Edition set

To mark its 11th Anniversary, Sulwhasoo has launched two limited edition skincare sets.

It has pledged a minimum amount of $10,000 from the sales of the “Beauty From Your Culture” sets, to fund the maintenance of the Singapore Botanic Gardens 🍃, the city’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The brand will donate $10 for every purchase of the Essential Trial Kit set ($68); and $20 for each First Care Activating Serum EX set ($115) sold.
The sets are value-for-money, plus they each come with a cute pouch.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Creamy Mask

Luxurious. Cocooning. Pampering.

No other way to describe this new double-layered Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Creamy Mask: Gore-Tex material (found on waterproof windbreakers) on the outside to seal in the goodness of the mask; and a soft and pulpy inner sheet that soaks up the serum while adhering comfortably to the skin.

And this is not another drippy serum sheet mask; instead, it is slathered in a viscous white cream emulsion that contains eight times more anti-ageing ginseng extract than its bestselling Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX. The formula comprises of skin-stimulating saponin from ginseng root, and skin-energising ginseng flower extract.

For the mask to better fit the contours of the face, it comes in two parts that are individually packed for the upper and lower half.

When all you want to do is shut down after a stressful day, just wrap your visage in this Creamy Mask, forget your woes, and turn off the lights.

Apply serum first, then flip the mask on for 20 minutes. It did not dry out even after I had it on for more than 30 minutes.

Massage the remaining essence in (there is a generous amount in each pack).

My skin looked brighter and more supple afterwards. I really love how comfortably this mask moulds onto the skin, with every part of in contact with my face (no weird angles sticking out).

If you do not like the dewy finish that sheet masks usually give you, then this one is for you as it leaves behind matte but firmer skin.

Because this is a pretty rich product, it is more suited for drier and more mature skin.
