Aesop Fabulous Face Oil

Can you imagine a viscous skin-clearing oil? Layering an oil onto your clogged pores?Yes, but always on clean skin only please. I have tiny bumps on my nose and chin, and this oil clears them up. Just three drops, and use it in place of a serum and moisturiser. Because it is rather thick, I only use it at night. The ylang ylang in it smells so heady too; it totally relaxes me after a hard day’s work. Another reason why I love Aesop.

La Mer The Treatment Lotion

Essence lotions are a must in skincare routines. Skincare products – serums and moisturisers – just don’t seem to sink in as well when I apply them on just-washed towel-dried skin. One of my all-time faves is La Mer’s The Treatment Lotion. The watery lotion is a little viscous and spreads easily. I like to use it immediately after a shower, while my skin is still wet (once you wipe dry with a towel, the skin becomes tight and stiff). After tapping it thoroughly into my skin, the essence makes it feel bouncy. That, is a perfect time for me to press in some oils – warmed between my palms – into my skin. This essence has helped to make my skin look clearer, refine my pores and clear up the clogged ones.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

There are so many things to like about this gentle facial wash. The low-foaming formula cleanses skin gently with amino acids — which are good alternatives to harsh surfactants — and is scented with a refreshingly uplifting scent of tea. I like to use this in the mornings when my skin just needs a light wash (I cleanse my face thoroughly every night), and I need to perk up my senses. The texture and scent of Fresh products just add that little some thing to my beauty routine.

Dr Jackson’s

Dr Jackson’s is one of those skincare brands which I think are worth every cent. It is pricey (the brand is stocked on Net-A-Porter after all), but it works. When I use Dr Jackson’s, I can feel my skin absorbing the goodness of baobab, chamomile, kigelia, and shea extracts that make up most of the products. Concocted by Dr Jackson, a doctor who studies medicinal plants in far-flung jungles that have the potential to treat skin cancer, the formulas are simple. Not too many unnecessary ingredients (check the list out), just the effective ones. I like 01, the doctor’s first product. It is a lightweight moisturiser with SPF20. 05 is another fave of mine. The essence — which is not watery like most essences — is a viscous gel that makes the skin glow. Made for the face and areas around the eyes, it can also be applied over make-up for a mid-day skin perk.
