TBG Interview: Indie Lee Skincare founder, Indie Lee

A rare brain tumour was the rude awakening for Indie Lee. She was given six months to live, but survived it. The doctors said it could be the result of an unhealthy environment and the products she was applying on her skin. Following the brand’s debut at Sephora Singapore’s recent Spring/Summer 2019 launch, Indie Lee shares with The Beauty Gazette her trigger for a fuller life, and the creation of a  cleaner beauty brand. After I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in 2008, and recovered from it, I made it my mission to educate and empower others to live their healthiest lives. Our products serve to underline this message. When I first started the brand, I had no beauty experience and no industry connections – I was previously in accounting. But I was on a mission and I found my way. For us, it’s really speaking to a psychographic versus a demographic. We aren’t chasing one profile or age group. We want to connect with people undergoing a transformation in their life, be it pregnancy, a …

TBG Interview: Holly Thaggard, Supergoop! Founder and CEO

Sunscreen is that one anti-ageing skincare product category that works for sure. Wrinkles, spots and sagginess are warded off as long as you use sunscreen consistently, and if possible, way before the spots and wrinkles appear. But Holly Thaggard’s concerns weren’t exactly just about clear and firm skin when she launched her dedicated sunscreen beauty line Supergoop! a decade ago. Skin cancer was. As Supergoop makes its mark at Sephora Singapore stores, Thaggard shares the story behind her brand with The Beauty Gazette. I decided to launch Supergoop when a close friend of mine was diagnosed with skin cancer when we were in our early 30s. I set out to learn everything there was to know about sun exposure. What I found was that skin cancer was the most common type of cancer in the U.S., and that it was primarily preventable with daily SPF. But no one wanted to wear it because it didn’t feel good, so that’s when I got to work. The three things we stand for as a brand help set us …

Sunday Riley topsellers review: Good Genes, CEO, Tidal, Luna

Every once in a while, you need new skincare formulas to perk up your beauty routine. Potent potions that will re-set the skin. Sunday Riley’s bestselling products are good options as they work on the basics of good skincare. Exfoliate Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment Made with purified lactic acid to rid skin of dead cells for smoother and fresher-looking skin. Results are immediate. Also reduces the appearance of fine lines, spots; and evens out the skin tone over time. This treatment may sting a little, especially on sensitive skin. If so, use it as a mask once or twice a week. Use Vitamin C C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum Containing 15 per cent stable vitamin C that is also oil-soluble, this serum treats dark spots. Leaves skin radiant and more supple. A saccharide isomerate extract which is water-binding and an emollient, also reduces the appearance of pores. Hydrate Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream A gel moisturiser made with purified alpha-arbutin to brighten and even out the skin tone; papaya enzyme that exfoliates; two …

Sunday Riley: Treats for the skin

Good genes for great skin can come in a bottle. At least, according to the cult skincare label Sunday Riley. One bestseller of this US-based beauty brand is its Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment. The multi-award-winning formula exfoliates skin to clarify and smoothen instantly. Apparently, it is also a go-to for celebrities and models who need an instant skin-boost before shows. Apart from Good Genes, the Sunday Riley skincare line is also famous for its intensely colourful face oils that are as potent as they look.   The eponymous brand was founded by Sunday Riley, a cosmetic chemist, almost a decade ago. Today, the brand is available in 12 countries and cities, as it launches in Sephora stores in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. At her Sephora launch party in Singapore, Sunday Riley shared her thoughts on the brand, the products, and her own skincare routine with The Beauty Gazette. I have a special relationship with each product because I formulate them.  It takes me six months to a year to make each …

Fenty Beauty Stunna Review: Lip Paint Uncensored

Fenty Beauty clearly knows how to build up demand. Following its official launch in September, and the Holiday collection release barely a month later; it has followed-up with a single product: a bright red liquid lipstick for all skin tones. To tease fans, Rihanna did a quick minute-long “makeup tutorial” on how to wear the Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Uncensored, on her Instagram account. The celebrity has previously launched a make-up collection with MAC, and her limited edition lipstick Riri Woo, was hugely popular. Stunna is a super true bright red that looks very similar to Riri Woo, except in liquid form. 💋Watch Clip to see how pigmented it is: pictured in video is one dip, one coat. 💋 Super true bright red that looks exactly like it does in the hefty glass bottle 💋 Flattering on all skin tones 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️ 💋 Texture is completely matte 💋 Not completely smudgeproof, but that’s how the sexiest red lipsticks are; it ends up somewhere 💋 That said, it is difficult to totally remove without a …
