Sulwhasoo’s 20th Anniversary and Time Treasure Renovating Eye Serum

Luxury South Korean skincare brand Sulwhasoo’s new Time Treasure Renovating Eye Serum comes with an ergonomic, and 24 carat gold-plated eye care massager, no less. But what’s inside this new eye serum is just as precious. Formulated with traditional Korean herbs like the brand’s other products, it contains red and white ginseng, pine bark, licorice root, white peony, and Indian lotus extracts as well as shea butter. This eye serum with a light ginseng scent is surprisingly lightweight. While easily absorbed, it plumps up the fine skin and brightens the dullness around the eyes. Perfect as a primer for eye concealer too. As Sulwhasoo marks its 20th anniversary this year, find out more about the brand and its parent company Amorepacific in this article; here and here.

Sulwhasoo 20th anniversary edition First Care Activating Serum EX and Mask

When Sulwhasoo’s First Care Activating Serum was launched, it caused a stir because it was touted as a pre-serum, the very first step in the already elaborate multi-step Korean beauty routine (of essence, serum, emulsion, cream, suncare, primer, makeup). The slightly viscous gel-like serum is lightweight and easily absorbed by the skin, thus priming it for the subsequent skincare products that will be layered on top. The First Care Activating Serum EX, an improved version of the original concotion and a bestseller in the premium Sulwhasoo’s line-up, is formulated with traditional Korean medicinal herbs that promise to regenerate the skin. Made to hydrate and delay skin-ageing, the serum contains rehmannia, peony, solomon’s seal, lotus, and white lily.  To celebrate Sulwhasoo’s 20th anniversary, the serum now comes in a limited edition 120ml bottle. To complete the skin pampering, Sulwhasoo also launches its new First Care Activating sheet mask. The paper sheet mask is thin yet absorbent, and adheres relatively well to the skin. It is easy to use as it has a soft and thin mesh …

Lush Mother’s Day and solids collection

With Lush, bath time is never a quickie affair. The brand is about the bath bombs that turn the tub into an essential oil-infused body soak; the colourful bubble bars that leave your skin covered in crazy colours like neon pink and orange while you scrub; and so on. Lush products come in unexpected textures: solid hair conditioners and shampoos, toothpaste, mouthwash; wobbly jelly soaps; powdery bath bombs that fizzle like a coke in the water. Some of the ingredients are also good enough to eat. And the scents always hit you like… So bath times becomes a true ritual, where you take time to unwind and take stock of the day. The latest collection is no less fun. The Beauty Gazette‘s picks: Pink Custard Shower Jelly – with lavender oil, tonka absolute, vanilla absolute, neroli oil, organic coconut oil, brown sugar (keep it in the freezer for a super cooling wash on hot days)  Drop of Hope Hand & Body Soap – So interesting. This bar is made from rapeseed oil, sourced from the Minamisoma …

Nars’ first standalone store in Singapore

Three years after Nars’ successful launch in Singapore in 2014, the label marks the New Year with its first standalone store here.  This sleek 77 sq m boutique is where you’ll be able to get your hands on exclusive lipstick shades.  To us, the star product available in the store is the customisable magnetic palette (pictured above), where you can fit all your fave cheek, contouring, and eye colours into one sleek case.  Perfect for on-the-go glamour.  Nars 391 Orchard is located at B1-53 Takashimaya S.C., Ngee Ann City Singapore 238872

Tom Ford Beauty’s new space at Robinsons Raffles City

The new and improved beauty floor of Robinsons Raffles City Singapore is giving the one at Tangs Orchard a run for its money.  The Robinsons store at City Hall has always been a crowd-puller due to its close proximity to the MRT station, and a rather good mix of F&B and retail tenants in the rest of the Raffles City Shopping Centre.  Now, the new Tom Ford Beauty counter at Robinsons Raffles City adds swank and class to the department store’s recently-expanded beauty floor. So you have one more option – apart from  Tom Ford Beauty at Tangs Orchard, and the Tom Ford flagship boutique at Marina Bay Sands – when you desperately need to stock up on the Private Blend juices and delectable lipsticks.

Pony Effect Customising Lip Palette

The difference between regular products, and the ones that are designed by make-up artists is always apparent. Like South Korean YouTube sensation Pony’s Customising Lip Palette. It comes with ten creamy shades – including yellow, blue, white, black and purple. The colours are a little too avant garde for your regular K-Beauty brand you say? You could wear them on their own, or mix it with the regular pinks and reds in the palette to customise them. Just like the pros. Here’s how: Add white to make the pinks and reds more pastel Blend black with the pinks and reds for a sexier and darker finish Mix purple in the pinks and reds for the on-trend plummy fall shades Add blue to the pinks and reds for an unexpected purple twist Work yellow into the blues and pinks to turn them into more vibrant and warmer hues Such a simple but clever product. At a time when everyone can pick up make-up tricks off Instagram, YouTube and everywhere else on the Internet; items like these …

Christian Louboutin Fragrances

Shoe designer Christian Louboutin has an uncanny ability to make women desire whatever he creates.  Famous for his red-soled spindly stilettos – inspired by showgirls he admires – Louboutin cracked into the beauty market in 2014 with his Rouge Louboutin Nail Lacquer. Just so that he could have the perfect polish shades match his open-toed creations. The ombre glass bottles come with dramatic caps that resemble a spike, and stiletto heel. Next, came the range of lipsticks that are constantly sold out; even when they cost US$90 a pop. Gorgeously packaged, the lipsticks are shaped to look like bullets with intricate rococo designs.  That’s the appeal of Louboutin’s femme fatale aesthetic: ultra-feminine and sexy  but always a little bit dangerous (and intimidating).  This fall, Louboutin expands his beauty range with three fragrances.  The bottles of twisted ombre glass are beautiful and ornamental as all things Louboutin. Tornade Blonde:  “The scent of love and adventure, a gorgeous red rose lies deep in a bed of sweet violet and cassis. Feminine and potent, animalistic yet floral, Tornade …

Kiehl’s #ultralove charity project

Kiehl’s is one of the handful of beauty brands that has made a long-term commitment to giving back every year. For the month of September this year, it will be donating 100 per cent of the net proceeds from the sale of three limited edition products to the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF). 2016 also marks Kiehl’s 165th anniversary. Each of Kiehl’s three iconic products, the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream ($48 for 50ml); the Ultra Facial Cream ($48 for 5o ml); and the Super Multi-Corrective Cream ($95 for 50ml); are all decorated in designs by Singapore artistes. The money will go towards supporting the CCF’s top causes: Casework and Counselling; Financial Assistance; and Place for Academic Learning and Support. The Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, as its name suggests, is an oil-free gel-cream moisturiser. While the Ultra Facial Cream is the richer, original formula made for long-lasting hydration. The Super Multi-Corrective Cream is an anti-ageing concoction that promises to lift, firm, and even out the skin texture.
