Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Intense

Yes, with all the protective mask-wearing when you are outside during this pandemic, why would you need another lip product? But don’t forget about that Zoom/ Microsoft Teams/ Face Time session where you could still put on a nice lippie. So Clarins’ new Lip Comfort Oil Intense is what we’d recommend. It is formulated after the brand’s popular Lip Comfort Oil which keeps the lips hydrated, moisturised, and glossy with plant oils. But with a shot of intense colour added to make a liquid lipstick formula that is bright, lightweight, and skin-plumping with a sheen. The applicator of the Lip Comfort Oil Intense – which looks like an eyeshadow sponge applicator – also just picks up the right amount of product, so the application is even, precise, and so easy. The colours – available in eight shades of reds, pinks and nudes – are also bright and nicely opaque, even with just one sheer layer. See how it works, here.

Aesop Citrus Melange Body Cleanser

Aesop Citrus Melange Body Cleanser

Summer days are here. If you live on a tropical island like Singapore, it probably wouldn’t matter if summer were here or not. Except for the amazing sales in the stories. That said, everyone’s imagination needs to be transported these days. When many countries’ borders are on lockdown, the pleasure of travel is becoming a fuzzy memory. I imagine Aesop’s new Citrus Melange Body Cleanser must be what the lemons of the Mediterranean Amalfi Coast must smell like in Summer. Fresh, breezy and a hint of herbaceous deliciousness. I’ve never been to the Amalfi Coast but I can imagine the salty sea breeze. Containing petitgrain, lemon rind and grapefruit rind, Aesop’s low-foaming cleanser turns your shower experience into a daydreaming session. Pair it with the Petitgrain Reviving Body Gel (grapefruit rind, pantheon, witch hazel) to cool hot skin, and smell fresh and earthy.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum 5th Generation

Sulwhasoo 5th Generation First Care Activating Serum

The secret to Korean celebrities’ translucent dewiness: the right skincare routine. Their skin glistens through the seasons, in sub-zero degrees in winter and right through the heat of summer. Layering with the right formulas is key. Sulwhasoo’s First Care Activating Serum was launched in the late 1990s as a pre-serum to use the first step in the skincare routine. The lightweight and potent serum contains traditional korean medicine ingredients including white lily, solomon’s seal and lotus, to soften and prepare skin for subsequent layers of serum and creams. This year, Sulwhasoo launches the 5th generation of the First Care Activating Serum for improved efficacy.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules: Updated Formulas

The iconic pearlescent capsules have been updated with extra benefits for the skin. The Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsule Daily Youth Restoring Serum contain ceramides, lipids, retinol and botanicals that keeps skin looking plump, fresh, smoother and softer. The oil always feels dense when you dispense the capsule into your palms. But warm it between the hands, press into skin; and you’ll see how easily absorbed it is. To boost the skin’s renewal process while you sleep, try the Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum. As its name suggests, has an additional shot of retinol to stimulate the skin’s collagen production, and glow. These oil-based serums work best on those with dry or combination skin. And depending on how your face feels after this formula is absorbed, layer on a moisturiser to seal in the skin food.

Decorte Whitologist Brightening Concentrate

Give Your Skin An Upgrade: Decorte Whiteologist Brightening Concentrate

Skin-brightening formulas are often a hit-or-miss. Simply because it is tricky to create products that would add radiance to the skin effectively. Decorte has revamped its signature Whiteologist serum (S$210) for the third time to offer you an improved formula. Based on a capsule-delivery system, the brightening complex contains the herbal medicine angelica acutiloba extract to promote blood circulation; jujube extract for cell turnover and moisturising properties; as well as the antioxidants of grape seed extract. This lightweight formula layers seamlessly under a heavier moisturiser and foundation.

Orbis Defencera Review: Hype or possibly the most delicious edible moisturiser?

A beauty routine is not just about what you apply on your skin, but what you pop into your mouth. That is why a healthy and balanced diet is so important for glowing skin.  And supplements are easy options to cheat your way to better skin. One of the latest to hit the market and make waves is the Orbis Defencera, a powdered skincare supplement that promises to moisturise skin. The brand claims that 80,000 boxes were sold in the first month of its launch in Japan. Each 1.5g sachet contains 1.8mg of glucosylceramide, or DF-Ceramide, extracted from brown rice. Ceramides play an important role in maintaining skin barrier function, moisture levels and resilience. The beauty of swilling a ceramides oral supplement is that it also apparently stimulates the body to produce more ceramides, so skin is kept plump and more youthful, all over.  It helps then, that the Orbis Defencera tastes like powdered yuzu candy, which melts in the mouth. We like to enjoy the sugar rush, then down it with a cup of …

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited, Amplified

Lipsticks are the new eyeshadows. At least at Shu Uemura. The brand has always been known for its wide range of beautiful eyeshadows: metallic, glitter, matte. Now, it has expanded its lipstick colour range, to an impressive 155 shades. Encased in an acrylic bullet, the colours come in six textures. These include two new ones: amplified and amplified matte with extra pigment. All the lipsticks have also been reformulated with tsubaki (or camellia flower) oil, so that it feels extra moisturising on lips. For these textures, the colours are intense, with additional slick. Even for the matte version, there is no need to put on a coat of balm beforehand for smooth application. The Rouge Unlimited lipsticks are priced at S$42 each.

Francois Nars launched his iconic eponymous makeup label 25 years ago. This year, the brand marks its anniversary with 60 new lipstick shades. Aesop Seeking Silence Facial Hydrator

Aesop’s new face cream is made to calm the skin while keeping its moisture levels balanced. The formula has an intriguing moniker – Seeking Silence Facial Hydrator – and is blended with antioxidants and humectants. The two star ingredients are a green micro-algae, the dunaliella salina extract; and an extract from the bulbs of narcissus tazetta. Both soothe irritation and reduce redness. While ginger root extract and bisabolol calm skin sensitivity. The humectants saccharide isomerate and aqualabel are also added to maintain the skin’s barrier function. To be used morning and evening on clean skin, this emulsion is ideal for those who prefer a fuss-free routine. It is also lightweight enough to be worn under makeup on a hot and humid day. It gained extra points for leaving a cooling sensation on the skin. S$80 for 60ml, available at Aesop Singapore stores 30 Sept 2019.
