The One with the Friends

The coveted Friends’ reunion that ran in May has inspired many to revisit the iconic 10-season series on Netflix. Clearly, one other reason why Friends is trending (on Netflix) is obvious: many of us are still quarantined due to the pandemic. With not much else to do, indulging in the good old Friends’ bubble is incredibly comforting. The jokes are timeless, the exchange witty with the righ dash of political-incorrectness, and comc timing is on-point. And the fashion brands are paying attention to what the consumers want: Friends’ fashion. High-waisted straight-leg jeans and bermudas made of sturdy denim, crochet, figure-hugging cropped tops, strappy dresses and knits fill the racks in stores (both on and off-line). So here are snapshots of Rachel’s, Monica’s and Phoebe’s blowouts and makeup, for you to match the Friends’ sartorial trends.

K-Pop Beauty Icons: Blackpink

Light Up the Sky, the eye-opening documentary on the K-pop sensation Blackpink has debuted on Netflix. We take a closer look at the trend-setting beauty and makeup styles of the four starlets. Their makeup is the quintessential K-Beauty look: not over the top but accentuating the natural contours of softer Asian features. #1 – Subtle smokey Their lightly-lined and faintly smudged eyes keep the faces looking youthful while sultry and pretty. Thin eyeliner to define the upper lashline, and lightly smudged neutral shadow just below the lower lashline. #2 – Skin-glow-up pastel makeup Flattering pastel rainbow shades on the hair, eyes, cheeks and lips. #3 – The Ingenue makeup Bright eyes with a flick and perfectly-lined bright red/ pink lips. Simple, but so glamourous. #4 – Glowing skin The makeup look of a Korean celebrity is not complete without beautifully luminescent skin. Kate Von D, the queen of tattoos, eyeliner and lipstick, is purveying her line of cosmetics in the Little Red Dot.  Later this year. (April 27 update: Kat Von D confirms Southeast Asia launch. More details soon!) Her best-selling lipsticks and liners are always sold out. So, if you don’t know who she is and why you should care (especially when you are a beauty junkie), here’s some info for you to get up to speed. 1. She’s like burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese with her bold lipstick, wing-tipped liner, and bang-bang body. But with tattoos up to her face and neck.    2. The 34-year-old American tattoo artist shot to fame when she starred in the tattoo shop reality TV show Miami Ink in 2005. She has been pricking skin since she was 16.          3. Her make-up line is a manifestation …
