Christian Louboutin Beauty launches in Singapore

Luxury shoe designer Christian Louboutin is known for his ostentatious red-soled shoes inspired by the showgirls he has always admired. To complement his embellished stiletto offerings, Louboutin launched his beauty label in 2014 with lipsticks and nail polish for the woman who has everything. The over-the-top makeup packaging – with its weapon-like spike handle, bejewelled caps and gilded finish – give the products a collector’s item status. Prices match the form too: a lipstick costs $142. Beauty junkies in Singapore know what they want, and Louboutin Beauty is clued in. In June, it launched its first beauty counter in the city at Tangs Orchard, and it looks like a decadently delicious Parisian Boudoir of a femme fatale.

Hourglass No.28 Lip Treatment Oil

As the last of winter turns to spring and the weather remains chilly, a good lip treatment product is essential to keep that pout looking delicious. Hourglass’ popular No.28 Lip Treatment Oil now comes in tinted formulas. Blended with botanical oils (with a relaxing scent), vitamins and active ingredients, it hydrates, plumps and lends definition to the lips. The 24-Karat gold-plated tip adds luxe and a cool touch to the pout upon application. It also smoothens fine lines immediately for a juicy appearance. The colour is semi-sheer and lasts relatively long for an oil-based liquid balm. Our fave shades: Adorn, Bare and Cameo for that perfect #MLBB look.

YSL Beauty Hearts & Arrows Collection

There’s something about getting your hands on makeup with pretty packaging. Even better if the beauty items are classics that belong in your regular routine, so you get maximum mileage out of the limited edition collection. (That is, if you bear to use them instead of storing them away carefully.) YSL Beauty’s seasonal range is a case in point. This February, its Heart & Arrows collection will literally make your heart palpitate a little faster. Sparkly hearts embellish the iconic Touche Eclat pen, while the Rouge Volupte Shine is printed with bold scarlet ones.

Shu Uemura #RD163 Lipstick

If you are Asian with a fair skin tone, Shu Uemura claims to have created the perfect red lipstick for you. #RD163 is blended with just the right amount of yellow and blue for a flattering rich scarlet. It is available in matte, satin and glossy textures. (We like the matte one which is especially long-lasting) To complete the look, Shu Uemura has also launched a complementary red eyeshadow and earthy red-toned liners that look perfect with a black winged-tip stroke. Watch this to get a glimpse of the shade.

Hera Sensual Tint

The new lip formula by South Korean beauty brand Hera is not for the faint-hearted. The colours are bright and pigmented; even though the texture is a relatively watery liquid. Fortunately, a spade-shaped applicator with a fine tip makes spreading the lip colour on precisely, easy. The sponge-tip soaks up just enough liquid to dispense a thin layer that stains the pout. Just two coats will give lips an intense shade, and high-shine. The dry-down is not immediate though; so give it some time before you drink. Hera Sensual Tint is available in 10 flattering shades.

Hourglass Cosmetics: Overall Review

The hype is real. Hourglass Cosmetics deserves to be in the makeup pouches of the most critical beauty junkies. As compared to many other luxury/ masstige beauty labels, Hourglass Cosmetics’ product launches are few and far between. The bold colours in the collection are mainly limited to its lip line. Yet, makeup addicts are obsessed with Hourglass Cosmetics simply because the products work. Its award-winning Veil Mineral Primer is silky-smooth and keeps makeup on through the day, partying, drama, and drinks. The super-fine Veil Translucent Setting Powder takes away the shine, without adding any cakiness, and adds a luminousity to the skin. While the new Caution Extreme Lash Mascara is a dream to use. The highlighting, blush, and contour products are legendary; as they also add a glamorous soft glow to the face. And when they are all thoughtfully packed together in a single palette; you’ve got the perfect travel glam kit. Up next on our wish list: the new Ambient Lighting Edit Face Palette in Unlocked.
