The new lip formula by South Korean beauty brand Hera is not for the faint-hearted. The colours are bright and pigmented; even though the texture is a relatively watery liquid. Fortunately, a spade-shaped applicator with a fine tip makes spreading the lip colour on precisely, easy. The sponge-tip soaks up just enough liquid to dispense a thin layer that stains the pout. Just two coats will give lips an intense shade, and high-shine. The dry-down is not immediate though; so give it some time before you drink. Hera Sensual Tint is available in 10 flattering shades.

Clearer and brighter skin is always a good start to party season. Skin Inc’s Optimizer Voyage is one of those fancy skincare gadgets that can actually inject an instant glow and tighten skin immediately. The latest version of this device – the shape and size of a regular automated cleansing brush – delivers bursts of LED light in five shades to boost skin healing. (Read about the benefits of LED light here.) Red repairs, blue soothes, yellow adds a glow. A combination of red and yellow (=orange) helps repair skin; while red and blue (=purple) tightens skin. Low-frequency waves emitted by the device also help to sculpt the face. For best results, use with the brand’s exfoliating Pure Revival Peel, customised Encapsulated Serums and nourishing and cool Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask. We are loving this device and complementary products; a sure-fire way to instantly rejuvenate skin at home.
In this part of Asia where skincare routines with more than six steps are de rigueur, simple and straightforward ones are refreshing. In fact, the tried-and-tested three-step routine developed by Beverly Hills-based dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer has been a go-to for celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Oprah Winfrey, for years. Dr Lancer states his premise in his book, Younger: The Breakthrough Anti-Aging Method for Radiant Skin: Regularly polish (or rather, exfoliate) skin to create “controlled injury” so that the deeper layers of the skin are triggered to “repair” mode and expedite cell renewal on the epidermis, as well as collagen production. Follow-up with cleansing to remove the rest of the gunk (debris, excess sebum, leftover makeup, pollution, etc.). Finish by “feeding your face”. The AM routine begins with cleansing, then nourish and protect (with sunscreen). While Dr Lancer shares a variety of other products across brands and price ranges that work well, clearly his own complementary formulas would work best for his prescribed routine. Lancer The Method: Polish gives a skin slightly warm sensation …
