As the season for razzle-dazzle limited edition cosmetics comes round at the end of the year, Kose’s compacts are always coveted. They come in the most intricate casings with elaborate designs, to present the softest and finest powders for a delicate sophistication. This Japanese pressed powder comprises of five subtle shades to correct the appearance of skin dullness, patchiness, as well as pores and fine lines. It also mattifies, sets makeup, and offers some SPF25 PA++. Ouai Haircare at Sephora Singapore

There hasn’t been a haircare brand that’s quite as exciting as Ouai (pronounced wa-y) hitting Singapore shores in recent years. For one, celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin – responsible for the styled locks of model A-listers such as Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Karlie Kloss – definitely knows what women with 24/7 non-stop lifestyles and woke-up-like-this faces need to maintain their manes. Unlike these women, you’d probably not have Atkin on your speed-dial. But at least you can have Ouai products on your dresser. Here are the TBG picks: The Dry Shampoo Foam that amazingly doesn’t leave any powder residue on the hair. It goes on as a wet foam which disappears and cleans the hair and scalp as you massage it in. Works best on drier scalps. Great for use while travelling and reviving unwashed hair in a jiffy. Watch to see how it works. The Rose Hair & Body Oil is delicately-scented and a multi-tasker. Just use a small pumps on the ends of hair. Here’s a quick clip of Atkin sharing a beauty tip.

Puredistance: Parfums with excellent sillage

When you have creatives at the helm of a fragrance label – instead of shrewd marketers out to make a quick buck – you get a nice range of standout perfumes. At Puredistance, the scents are noteworthy for their long-lasting sillage due to an exceptionally high content of perfume oil. All seven Parfum de Extrait in the range contain between 25 and 38 per cent of perfume, “hence the higher cost and prices”, explains the brand’s founder Jan Ewoud Vos. His rationale for using so much perfume oil in the juices: they fuse with the skin’s natural scent for longer. Prices of Puredistance parfums start from 175 euros for 17.5ml. Pick a crystal and 24 carat gold flacon and prices go up to 1,890 euros for 17.5ml. “As I give a perfumer a brief, I also give them an unlimited budget and time,” says Vos, who is also a photographer. This freedom is rare in the tightly-controlled perfume industry where profit margins rule the day. For that reason, when Vos announced in 2007 that he …

‘Cause baby you’re a firework! For Christmas, YSL Beaute wants you to remember that you’re a colourful explosion of sexiness, glamour and glitz. This limited edition range comes embossed with silver and pink glittery fireworks on a Holiday face palette, Touche Eclat Pen, and Rouge Pur Couture lippies. A similar design is carved into the lipstick bullets, making them fancy collectibles. The face palette shades are subtle and wearable with a hint of metallic shine and glitter, perfectly complemented by the vibrant and bold lipstick shades. 😍😍😍

Square Cushion: Yves Saint Laurent Beaute Touche Eclat Le Cushion

We’ve tried lots of compact cushions, but none like this Touche Eclat version. Not just because it is square in shape 🙌🏻 The formula is liquid, but it has a powdery velvety finish. It goes on super light, and gives skin a beautiful glow that is matte but not flat. Coverage is light to medium. Blending is easy. 😍 The applicator has a flocked surface, which makes me feel like I am patting on a loose or compact powder. This YSL Beaute square cushion is perfect for those who dislike the over-the-top dewiness of most cushion foundations. Wear this alone if you have few blemishes, or for touch-ups throughout the day if you prefer high coverage foundation. Watch a swatch here.

But you could still get into the mood of Halloween with a stash of cute Lush body care shaped in one-eyed monsters, pumpkins and black kittens in a warm bath.         Photos: Lush

Yves Saint Laurent Beaute Encre De Peau All Hours foundation

Imagine being out from your morning latte run to cocktail hour, and not have to touch up your foundation and concealer. The new Yves Saint Laurent Beaute Encre De Peau All Hours formula offers just that. The liquid foundation gives medium to full coverage, a satin-matte finish, and long-lasting pigment that does not budge. A small dollop goes a long way. Best used with the signature Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow to prime and add hydration to the skin first, so the foundation goes on even more smoothly and is prevented from oxidising (turning one orange shade darker 😱). The liquid All Hours concealer is also excellent and one of the best we’ve ever used. It packs in nicely on the undereye area without settling into the fine lines, blends into the skin beautifully matte to hide dark circles, and stays on all day 👌🏻. Watch for a closer look at the textures.
