Lipsticks are a bestselling category for many beauty brands. Because nothing brightens up a face so much as a pop of colour on the lips, and making a woman feel more confident instantly. To make their customers feel extra special, Guerlain has gone all out to up the ante on the packaging of its luxurious Rouge G lipsticks. The hefty bullet case with a quality crystal-clear flip-up mirror – designed by jeweller Lorenz Baumer – now comes in a variety of 15 opulent designs: some even come ensconced in leather. Watch this for a sneak peek. Of course, as with all quality lipsticks, the formula is still as smooth, pigmented, and moisturising. The Rouge G retails at around S$70 a pop.

Yves Saint Laurent’s beauty range has long been a staple in the beauty arsenal of glamorous stars and their makeup artists. The Touché Eclat pen is a classic highlighter/ concealer that hides flaws while accentuating the contours of the face with a natural-looking finish. Many beauty gurus swear by the Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow primer; and the Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks are deliciously, decadently, sexy. YSL Beaute does not try too hard with its makeup range, just quality products that work for timeless, classic beauty. No crazy neon colours, highlighters that beam to the moon, or other fads. Our new YSL Beaute favourites attest to this. The Encre de Peau Le Cushion (the new version is emblazoned with the iconic YSL logo) gives skin a soft satin-matte finish, with lightweight and build-able coverage. This formula is unlike the dewy high-shine texture of most cushions that really only works on those with already flawless skin. Another must-have from the brand: the Couture Variation Palette with 10 complementary shades so you can create a variety of …

Every year when the Christmas season rolls around, Shu Uemura launches a make-up collection inspired by the year’s most influential pop culture icons. There were the fashion-inspired Karl Lagerfeld (Shupette) and Yazbukey launches, the artsy Takashi Murakami ones; and even film auteur Wong Kar Wai’s one year. In 2017, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros take centrestage as the game makes a huge comeback. But even if you aren’t the sort to be excited over a pixelated computer game character, it would be worth your while to get your hands on this super-cute collection. Apart from the adorable packaging, the palette comprises of both metallic shades and those with fine shimmer. The colours are on-point too: plum, bronze terracotta, gold and nude-pink for the eyes; pink and peach with subtle gold glitter for the cheeks. Perfect accents for a party look. The Dual Stamp-me Eyeliner comes with an oh-so-cute black star stamp at one end, and regular liquid eyeliner applicator on the other.
