Shopping madness in Lyon

Lyon is known for its medieval castles and awesome Michelin-star restaurants.

And I say add indie-store shopping to that list.

I’ve only been in Lyon for about 36 hrs and the shopping here is perfect (i.e, I have seriously over spent.)

With the word ‘SOLDES’ plastered on every window, I was like an animal set loose.

Most items were slashed to half price.

Paris is the fashion capital, but Lyon is the little fashion village that you shouldn’t miss out on. Especially if you like unique French brands.

Here’s a list of my fave boutiques in Lyon.

1. Repetto
36 rue du president edouard herriot
It’s easy to lose your orientation in a weave of cobbled streets. I missed the opening hours (all stores close at 7pm), and just couldn’t find the boutique again the next day. Wish I could snag the shoes that were going at half price!

2. Brandy Melville
85 rue du president edouard herriot
This two-storey hippy-vibe boutique is filled with threadbare tees and cute jersey bras that are meant to peep out of the tanks.

Here’s what I bought: a stripey tank top and strappy bra that is perfect for sheer tops.

3. Vanessa Bruno
3 rue du Bât d’Argent
Was too busy shopping and didn’t take any store pics. Its signature sequinned totes were on sale too. But here’s what I got: two mercerized cotton tanks that were at half price.

4. G-star
26 rue grenette
I went crazy and bought three pairs of jeans because they were at such a good price (at about 100 Euros each, full price) as compared to the ones in Singapore.

5. The Kooples
54 rue du president edouard herriot
I’ve seen plenty of cute Kooples ads in Vogue magazines and always wanted to buy the spiffy clothes shown, but there aren’t any stores in Singapore.
I went crazy at the store, especially since most items were at half price. I bought a Pete Doherty for the Kooples lace maxi skirt, a pyjama-looking chevignon shirt, and a crazy monkey tee amongst others. LOVE. (Items pictured in main pic.)

Think i’m gonna buy more when i’m back in Paris.

6. ElevenParis
29 rue de brest
This cult brand boutique was so fun to shop at. The staff was super friendly and they were blasting cool music at the store. Their cute tees were so soft and had witty graphics. Hubs found the awesomest chino pants with great cuts in blue and green. I bought a scarf, tees and a cut-out dress.
I passed on the Karl Lagerfeld Life Is A Joke tee, and now I kinda regret it…

7. Maje
12 rue emile zola
The clothing from this bohemian French brand are all so pretty and stylish. I love their silk tops and jersey dresses.
I got a metallic knitted tank, gold sandals and a black dress with a frou frou hem. Very French!

So don’t miss out on Lyon the next time you visit France!

Here’s one pic of the sights to further tempt you:
