Penhaligon’s: Head notes – Bergamot, mandarin, lavender, sage Heart notes – Geranium, coffee absolute Base notes – Vetiver, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamom, musk, leather, sandalwood, incense, frankincense, myrrh My thoughts: Straight from the bottle; it is rich, smoky, bittersweet, musky, warm, cosy, enveloping. Stronger and more long-lasting than the average cologne. Love it on my man.
The beauty conglomerates have been going on a shopping spree, and snapping up indie beauty brands. So what does this mean for the indie beauty addicts?
A unisex scent that hubs and I love, and share.
Elie Saab: Vanilla, green floral bouquet, luminous My thoughts: This has a signature Francis Kurkdjian scent. A sweet woody-floral that is unlike anything else. It does have hints of the original Elie Saab Le Parfum, also by Kurkdjian. Both are uber-feminine. But the L’eau Couture is more fresh and crisp.
Sensual and heady, this is not your typical floral perfume. The orange blossom accord usually smells like a white flower with a hint of citrus. But this orange blossom hits and seduces instantly. Interpreted from the brand’s original 1976 cocktail, it is part of the Anthology series. Head Notes: Neroli, Violet leaf, Bergamot, Lemon-cedrat, Cardamom absolute, Pink berries Heart Notes: Orange absolute, Egyptian jasmine absolute, Tuberose absolute, Rose essence, Peach flower, Orchid Base Notes: Sandalwood, Virginian cedar, White musk, Vanilla It reminds me of the flowers that bloom on warm balmy nights, make me pause in mid-stride and take a deep breath. This is not a light and refreshing scent, but it’s a good choice for the day. Bring along a little vial in your purse; it might not last as long as you’d like it to in humid weather.
